Clay Martinson was born and raised in Huntsville, Alabama, graduating from Huntsville High School in 2016. At Huntsville High, Clay played Varsity basketball and baseball.
After high school, Clay attended the University of Alabama where he excelled in academics and campus politics. Clay made the President’s List every semester at the Capstone. In his Junior year, he served as Vice President of Student Affairs in Student Government, and in his Senior year, he served as Executive Vice President.
Clay received numerous awards while at the University of Alabama including the College of Arts and Sciences Most Outstanding Sophomore and The Order of Omega Junior of the Year as a member of his fraternity Phi Gamma Delta. Clay was also tapped into all five major honor societies ODK, Mortar Board, Blue Key, Anderson’s Society, and Jason’s Senior Men’s Honorary. Clay was also selected as a Mount Vernon Leadership Fellow where he and 15 other college Juniors learned leadership skills through George Washington and interacted with world leaders. Clay graduated from UA in 2020 Summa Cum Laude with a degree in History and a minor in Civic Engagement and Leadership.
Clay remained in Tuscaloosa for three more years attending Alabama Law School. Clay participated in the 2L moot court competition and made the Moot Court Board. Clay then competed on the Labor and Employment Moot Court team, participating in the Wagner Moot Court Competition at New York Law School in New York City.
Outside of work, Clay serves as a Next Gen Leader for the White House Historical Association (WHHA). In this role, Clay and other leaders across the country help the WHHA develop civic education that connects with younger generations.
In his spare time, Clay enjoys playing golf, basketball, and tennis. He enjoys watching sports and sports documentaries. Clay is also an avid reader, and you can follow what he is reading on his Instagram @Clay.Reads. Clay is married to his wife, Annabel Martinson, who is a Legislative Affairs Specialist at NASA. Annabel and Clay have a loving hound dog named Friday.
